Time Travel

Ever wish that you could go back to a certain moment in time your life and relive a memory? I am not talking about regret, where you wish to go back a correct some perceived wrong. I am talking about the wish to step back in time just to visit, just to experience the sights, sounds and feelings firsthand of my memories. Perhaps I visualize a something akin to a video recording, only far more immersive and interactive. Also, so many moments are impossible to catch on film and cannot be contained as either magnetic charges on rust or a string of 1's and 0's.

Ever notice how a smell can bring back a vivid memory? Or how some touchstone object can cause a distant thought to emerge?

On balance, though, I think perhaps God has it just perfect. As it says in the Bible "It is appointed for a man to live once...". The filter of time does seem to smooth and soothe old hurts, and brighten the hues of the the best times. Perhaps I should rejoice in the happy memories I do have, and given I cannot go backward, focus upon the road ahead and work diligently to create new memories for myself and those I hold dear.
