I just witnessed a travesty of the highest order, and yet everyone wants to smile and sweep it under the rug. I watched a church that is supposed to love Jesus, that is supposed to be trying to spread the Gospel to a lost and dying world, that is supposed to be about the business of making disciples - succumb to the god of entertainment.
We have become what we most often decry - a mutual admiration society focused on our own entertainment above all else. We have become so busy about the things of this world that we have no time to be about the work of the kingdom.
We have come to be satisfied on the milk, and even that must be served strained, filtered and lukewarm. We have no desire to search after the deeper things of God. Our "doctrine" has been diluted, convoluted and outright subverted. Things are preached, taught and sung that are contrary not only to the clear teaching of scripture but to the articles of faith that are supposed to represent our common beliefs.
Our conduct is capricious and arbitrary. We will not dismiss on Sunday evenings for the Christmas parade or for the Super Bowl, but will dismiss on whim if there is a church dinner.
We have very real problems, but lack the desire to see them fixed or to put forth the effort to fix them. We place artificial limitations that lack scriptural basis upon any work we do.
We have elevated tradition to be a rival to scripture, despite our protestations otherwise.
Is it a lost cause? Time alone will tell. There is a solution - WAKE UP (See Revelation 3:1-2)(Also Romans 13:11-14). We can turn back while there is yet a little strength left.

Does anybody really care?

Jack Harris
If ever there was a man who defines being "larger than life" it was Jack Harris. By any measure Jack was a great man and by the most important measure, Jack was a Christian, and served his Lord dilligently.Jack will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him, but we have the great joy of knowing we will see him again. We know Our Father owns the cattle on a thousand hills - perhaps he wanted somebody who knew what to do with them.
