There are 5 latin phrases that every Christian needs to know because they summarize the essentials that as believers in Christ form the core of our essential doctrine.

These 5 phrases are often called the "Five Pillars of the Protestant Reformation".

The 5 are, with the English translation of each:

Sola Scriptura - by scripture alone
Sola Fide - by faith alone
Sola Gratia - by grace alone
Solus Christus - by Christ alone
Soli Deo Gloria - glory to God alone
